WELCOME MESSAGE

from the President of Pain Association of Singapore

Dear Colleagues,

It is my pleasure to invite you to the Pain Association of Singapore (PAS) Annual Scientific Meeting 2023 on 4 March and, Cadaver and Ultrasound Pain Intervention Workshop 2023 on 5 March. For the first time in 3 years, we will resume some normalcy, by having both an in-person conference and workshop.

Integrative Pain Care will be our theme for the meeting. The meeting scientific co-chairs are Dr Harinda Goonesekera and Dr Lester Jones, a pain physician and physiotherapist respectively. They have lined up several international and local experts to enlighten us on the provision of holistic and integrative pain care, particularly in the aspect of care for oncology patients. Besides updates on mainstream pain topics such as neuropathic pain and pain interventions, there is also a track on complementary medicine in which complementary medicine practitioners will shed light on its expanding role in pain management.

The Cadaver and Ultrasound Pain Intervention Workshop promises an intimate small group hands-on experience with several stations lined up - spinal cord stimulator implant, facet medial branch blocks, nerve root blocks, and ultrasound of upper and lower limb joints.

I hope you will take this opportunity to join in this conference and interact with our fellow colleagues in the pain care fraternity.

Yours sincerely,

WELCOME MESSAGE

Dr Ong Say Yang

President

Pain Association of Singapore

from the Scientific Chairpersons of Annual Scientific Meeting 2023

Dear Colleagues,

It gives us great pleasure to invite you to the Pain Association of Singapore (PAS) Annual Scientific Meeting 2023. Pleasingly, this will be a face-to-face meeting for the first time since 2019.

As with other years, we take the lead from the International Association for the Study of Pain Global Year. For 2023, the focus is on Integrative Pain Care. In particular, we are interested in spotlighting the dichotomy of eastern and western medicine that is often fiercely preserved by providers of healthcare but ignored by many people challenged by pain. At this meeting you will have the chance to engage in philosophies and modalities that you may have previously dismissed or even considered taboo!

We hope this is an opportunity to refresh, reset and integrate new and old ways of working to best help our patients/clients with pain. Bring an open mind and enjoy our local and international speakers as they help us safely navigate the boundaries of our professional wisdom.

On behalf of the committee, we thank you all for keeping this meeting on your calendar and we look forward to welcoming in person to this enriching and enlightening event.

Yours sincerely,

Harinda Goonesekera & Lester Jones
