WELCOME MESSAGE

from the President of Pain Association of Singapore

Dear Colleagues,

It is my pleasure to invite you to the Pain Association of Singapore (PAS) Annual Scientific Meeting 2022. This will happen as a virtual conference on Saturday, 26 Mar 2022. The on-going COVID pandemic has brought about many challenges to our medical fraternity, both in providing healthcare and meeting for conferences. We have kept to a virtual format so that more people, both locally and regionally, can participate.

The theme of the meeting, Translating Pain Knowledge to Practice, is aligned with the International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP) Global Year 2022 theme. The Scientific Committee is co-chaired by a pain physician, Dr Zheng Zhongxi, and a physiotherapist, Dr Poonam Pal. They have prepared an engaging series of talks and masterclasses, with world renowned practitioners in pain medicine.

I hope you will take this opportunity to join us in this conference and that you will find it a fruitful one.

Yours sincerely,

WELCOME MESSAGE

Dr Ong Say Yang

from the Scientific Chairpersons of Annual Scientific Meeting 2022

Dear Colleagues,

It gives us great pleasure to invite you to the Pain Association of Singapore (PAS) Annual Scientific Meeting 2022. The one-day virtual conference will be held on Saturday, 26th March 2022.

The past few years have been a great challenge, and yet also presented many of the medical fraternity in the world with new opportunities. Many practices have now adjusted their routines as the world continues to be faced with ongoing outbreaks fuelled by the delta variant of the coronavirus. While there is some cautious optimism for in person events, virtual meetings are now becoming de rigueur in many places, but unfortunately remains the only option in others as well. By retaining a virtual format, we hope this affords greater accessibility to the pain community both locally and regionally as we continue to endeavour amidst the COVID pandemic

In line with the IASP 2022 Global Year for Translating Pain Knowledge to Practice, the 2022 edition of our ASM features a diverse group of medical professionals, both locally as well as internationally who will share with us their journey in the investigation, synthesis and application of evidence in managing pain patients within a multidisciplinary team.

We hope that through this meeting, individuals involved in pain management are able to identify gaps in their knowledge, evidence and clinical practice, to fuel future research to answer urgent and critical pain dilemmas.

On behalf of the committee, we thank you all for keeping our event on your calendars and look forward to seeing you soon.

Yours sincerely,
