WELCOME MESSAGE

Dear Colleagues,

It gives us great pleasure to invite you to the Pain Association of Singapore (PAS) Annual Scientific Meeting 2021. The one-day virtual conference will be held on Saturday, 27 March 2021.

2020 was a tumultuous year for the world-wide medical fraternity. Many of us had to adjust our routine practices to confront the urgent clinical needs presented by the COVID-19 global pandemic. Many international conferences were also postponed or cancelled, and ours was no exception.

We would like to thank you all for keeping our event on your calendars and are pleased to announce that the 2021 edition of our ASM retains its emphasis on the role of multidisciplinary teams in the management of chronic musculoskeletal pain. We hope to make full use of our new-found virtual platform to create a safe, yet enriching experience for our attendees. Our streamlined programme will consist of a mix of plenary lectures, group and bonus sessions, along with discussion with local and international faculty.

As previously promised, also included in the programme is a session on Singapore’s upcoming National Guidelines for the Safe Prescribing of Opioids by a senior clinician directly involved in drafting these very guidelines.

The afternoon schedule of our conference consists of two tracks: one focusing on physician-centred topics, and another catering to allied health/nursing clinicians. In this way, we hope to have something for everyone, be it a refresher in the management of specific chronic pain conditions, recent evidence for best available management, or novel treatment modalities. With our new virtual format, you can even switch tracks without even needing to get out of your seat!

On behalf of the committee, we extend a warm invitation to all our colleagues to join us at this conference.
